CSI Technologies Receives Grant from the Department Of Energy

Houston, TX - November 11, 2009 - CSI Technologies, a Superior Energy Services company, was recently awarded a grant from the Department of Energy to accelerate domestic geothermal energy through research and development, announced CSI President Fred Sabins.

The $2.5 million grant awarded to CSI is a part of the $338 million in Recovery Act funding for the exploration and development of new geothermal fields and research into advanced geothermal technologies. CSI was one of 45 projects selected in the category of Enhanced Geothermal Systems (EGS) Components Research and Development/Analysis to focus on research and development of new technologies to find and drill into deep hot rock formations, stimulate enhanced geothermal reservoirs, and convert the heat into power.

CSI's project, scheduled to start in January of 2010, will focus on researching materials for use in geothermal wells, developing materials that can temporarily seal targeted fracture areas of an EGS system then decompose in order to reopen the area to assist in reservoir design and development. The project will total $3.5 million with CSI's drilling partner on the project, AltaRock Energy, providing $1 million to apply the materials CSI develops.

CSI Technologies, based in Houston, provides research, engineering and oilfield product development for the upstream petroleum industry. Visit www.csi-tech.net.
